A museum quality one of a kind ring, made of ancient Egyptian basalt that was carved into a scarab long ago, professionally estimated c1600's-1700's. Set in a golden gilt swivel setting, it is in very fine wearable condition.

This incredible museum quality Talisman is from our Premier collection, and let me tell you, it is one heck of a Talisman sewat that! Along with the Eye of God piece and the Kingdom of Ra Destiny Oculus, this is one of my personal favorites that we have ever had.

There is a lot to this piece, which is brimming with the most ancient of energies from the early Egyptian civilization; completely permeated and sheathed with a cornucopia of the primordial divine Magick of none other than ancient Egyptian God, Thoth.
Now, to really understand this piece, and what it does, you first must have at least a basic understanding of who Thoth is.
In the beginnings of the ancient Egyptian civilization, in pre-dynastic times, Thoth was the most important and widely worshipped God. Worship of Thoth first began in Egypt before the time of the great Dynasties, and lasted all throughout until the final Dynastic era in Egyptian history, making Thoth's veneration amongst the longest of not only the Egyptian gods, but of any deity from any civilization.
Who is Thoth exactly? What’s he all about? To answer that, like with most of the Egyptian Gods it does vary a bit depending on the time era in which they were recorded. But throughout all of recorded ancient Egyptian history, he was known, and is still known to this day as a God of knowledge and wisdom, an arbitrator who settled the disputes between good and evil, a self-created god, a master of both physical and divine laws, who ancient Egyptians credit as the author of all works of science, philosophy, religion, the system of writing and Egyptian hieroglyphs, and the Magickal arts; the most learned God in ancient history.
Thoth was inserted in many tales as the wise counselor and persuader, and his association with learning and measurement led him to be connected with the Greeks’ closest matching god Hermes, with whom Thoth was eventually combined as Hermes Trismegistus, leading to the Greeks' naming Thoth's cult center as Hermopolis, meaning city of Hermes.
The Greeks further declared him the inventor of astronomy, astrology, the science of numbers, mathematics, geometry, surveying, medicine, botany, theology, civilized government, the alphabet, reading, writing, and oratory. They further claimed he was the true author of every work of every branch of knowledge, both human and divine.
Thoth became known by the ancient Egyptians as the inventor of writing (hieroglyphs), and was also considered to have been the scribe of the underworld. For this reason, Thoth was universally worshipped by ancient Egyptian scribes. Many scribes had a painting or a picture of Thoth in their "office".
In the Papyrus of Ani copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead the scribe proclaims "I am thy writing palette, O Thoth, and I have brought unto thee thine ink-jar. I am not of those who work iniquity in their secret places; let not evil happen unto me." Chapter XXXb (Budge) of the Book of the Dead is by the oldest tradition said to be the work of Thoth himself.
Thoth played vital, prominent roles in maintaining the universe in ancient Egyptian mythology. Originally regarded as a Moon God, he was said to be the counselor of the sun god Ra, and stood next to Ra on the nightly voyage across the sky with Ma'at (truth/order) on Ra's solar barge.
The Moon not only provides light at night (allowing time to still be measured without the sun) and its phases gave it a significant importance in early astrology and astronomy. The cycles of the Moon also organized much of Egyptian society's rituals and events, both civil and religious. Consequently, Thoth gradually became seen as a god of wisdom, magic, and the measurement and regulation of events and of time.
In the Osiris myth, after Isis gathered together the pieces of Osiris's dismembered body, Thoth gave her the words to resurrect him so she could be impregnated and bring forth Horus. After a battle where Set plucked out Horus' eye, Thoth provided him the wisdom he needed to recover it.
As Thoth brought his Divine Magick to the Gods and the Ancients, so too will his Divine Magick come to you with this.
