PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
A beautiful amulet in a stunning golden hue featuring two circular doors which can be opened by setting the connector at the top sideways. Inside are two birds with intricate foliage. The openwork design of this is just gorgeous! I am unaware of the composition, though it does feel, imo, to be plated.
KNOWN HISTORY
This charming little pendant calls upon the power of the Fenghuang - a mythological bird in Chinese tradition that is often referred to as the Chinese Phoenix. Its name being a combination of the words “feng” (male bird) and “huang” (female bird), the Fenghuang is the utmost symbolic representative of harmony, virtue, and prosperity, and the union of male and female, yin and yang, balance, oneness.
The body of the Fenghuang represents the six celestial bodies, with the head being the sky, the eyes are the sun, the back is the moon, the wings are the wind, the feet are the Earth, and the tail represents the planets.
It is a being of alignment, balance, and connectedness in every sense of the words.
Often depicted in royal and wedding decorations, images of the Fenghuang go back thousands of years in Chinese art. While originally represented as two figures (again, the feng was a male bird, while the huang was a female bird), during the Yuan dynasty* it was often depicted as one singular figure, which is usually considered to be female/the Empress, and was often paired with the dragon/male/the Emperor.
*(The Yuan Dynasty was between 1271 to 1368, after the Song dynasty and before the Ming dynasty – the time period in the show Marco Polo – I believe it’s on Netflix. I always forget what platform I watched a show on after the fact – it is a great show though, I highly recommend it!)
Fenghuang reign over all other birds, appearing only in times of peace and prosperity, and remaining hidden during tumultuous times, as that is when the Fenghuang are working behind the scenes to provide strength to help bring about balance, prosperity and oneness, once again.

Though, if you have pets, particularly pet birds, it is possible they may see or sense the Fenghuang. It is an entirely amicable and wholly peaceful being, and its presence can actually be helpful to pets in times of stress or anxiety. To them, it can give a feeling of protection. Because after all, our pets are a part of our family, and when our family doesn't feel safe, we feel distress too. The Fenghuang looks out for more than just you, but all that makes up your life!
