PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
A spectacular vessel, of very early Ancient Roman glass, with highly desirable gold & silver natural patina. Structurally in very fine condition, it is an incredible piece of ancient craftsmanship. Professionally restored by a trusted, international antiquities Historian & Restorer from a world renowned antiquities gallery. Measures approximately 2.25" tall.

Generalized as a loose term, Ancient Roman Glass is used to refer to most all ancient glass after the Mesopotamian period, just prior to the rise of Rome, up to the 4th Century AD, geographically stretching from the Rhine River (which stretches from modern day Switzerland up to the Netherlands) & down to Egypt, & from Britain over to Asia Minor (what is today's Turkey) & countries along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

Made of white silica sand & soda ash, naturally occurring impurities like iron & manganese were not only inevitable, but purposefully added in the earliest of man made glass to give it a tinge of color. The green hue of this particular vessel implies it would have had a higher elemental content of iron.

The Iridescence & patina of ancient glass is a highly prized visual indicator that the piece has, in fact, been in the ground for a couple thousand years. Over the centuries, the natural exposure to the elements of the surrounding environment causes the thin layers of the glass to slightly separate from one another & flake, leading to a refraction of light between each layer, creating a prismatic, iridescent patina.

On Top of that, eBay restricted our selling abilities for 30 days, blocked our ability to both send & receive messages. We had had many items taken down since this anti First Amendment crusade began in late May 2018, but never had any item ever caused them to display such extreme animosity & hostility.

They absolutely refused to explain why the item was taken down, nor what part of the listing was violating any policy. There was no metaphysical information at all written, as they'll claim it violates their “no item policy” (making claims of intangible assets). All that was written was a physical description.
